Unlike some other oral GLP-1 medicines, Foundayo can be taken at any time of day, with or without food, with no need to plan meals around your dose.

What is Foundayo?

Foundayo® is a prescription-only weight management medicine containing orforglipron.

Orforglipron belongs to a group of medicines known as GLP-1 receptor agonists. These medicines work by influencing the body's natural appetite-regulating system, helping you feel fuller and less hungry.

Foundayo is taken as one tablet every day and does not require an injection.

It should be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet, increased physical activity and ongoing lifestyle changes.

How does Foundayo work?

GLP-1 is a hormone naturally released by your body after eating.

Foundayo acts on GLP-1 receptors and can help:

• Reduce hunger and appetite
• Help you feel fuller after eating
• Reduce food cravings
• Support smaller portion sizes
• Improve blood sugar regulation

By helping you eat less over time, Foundayo can support gradual and sustainable weight loss when combined with dietary and lifestyle changes.

How effective is Foundayo?

Clinical trials have shown that Foundayo can lead to meaningful weight loss when used alongside diet and increased physical activity.

In a 72-week clinical trial involving adults with obesity or overweight without diabetes, people taking the highest approved dose of Foundayo lost an average of approximately 11.1% of their starting body weight, compared with approximately 2.1% in those taking placebo.

Individual results will vary and weight loss is not guaranteed.

Your progress will be regularly reviewed as part of your weight management treatment.

Who may be suitable for Foundayo?

Foundayo is licensed for weight loss and weight maintenance in adults who have:

• A BMI of 30 or above, or
• A BMI between 27 and 30 together with at least one weight-related health condition.

Weight-related conditions may include:

• High blood pressure
• Type 2 diabetes or prediabetes
• High cholesterol or abnormal blood fats
• Obstructive sleep apnoea
• Certain cardiovascular conditions

Suitability is assessed individually.

How do you take Foundayo?

Foundayo is taken once per day.

One of its main advantages compared with some other weight loss tablets is that there are no fasting requirements.

You can take Foundayo:

• At any time of day
• With or without food
• Without having to wait before eating afterwards

The tablet should be swallowed whole and should not be broken, crushed or chewed.

You should not take more than one tablet per day.

What doses of Foundayo are available?

Foundayo is available in six different strengths:

• 0.8 mg
• 2.5 mg
• 5.5 mg
• 9 mg
• 14.5 mg
• 17.2 mg

Treatment normally begins with 0.8 mg once daily for 30 days.

The dose may then gradually increase depending on how well you tolerate the treatment and how you respond to it.

Typically, the dosing pathway is:

0.8 mg → 2.5 mg → 5.5 mg → 9 mg → 14.5 mg → 17.2 mg

You will normally remain on each dose for at least 30 days before an increase is considered.

Not everybody will need the maximum dose. Your prescriber will determine the most appropriate dose for you.

Foundayo vs Wegovy tablets

Both Foundayo and Wegovy tablets are once-daily GLP-1 medicines used for weight management, but they contain different active ingredients.

Foundayo contains orforglipron.

Wegovy tablets contain semaglutide.

One of the biggest practical differences is how they are taken.

Wegovy tablets have specific fasting and timing requirements to help the medicine absorb correctly.

Foundayo can be taken with or without food and at any time of day, giving patients greater flexibility.

The most appropriate treatment will depend on your medical history, lifestyle, previous weight loss treatments, treatment response and personal circumstances.

What are the side effects of Foundayo?

As with all medicines, Foundayo can cause side effects, although not everybody will experience them.

The most commonly reported side effects include:

• Nausea
• Constipation
• Diarrhoea
• Vomiting
• Indigestion
• Abdominal or stomach pain

These effects are often more noticeable when beginning treatment or after increasing your dose and may improve as your body becomes accustomed to the medicine.

Other side effects can occur, which will be discussed with you before treatment begins.

Seek urgent medical advice if you experience severe and persistent stomach pain, particularly if the pain spreads to your back, as this can be a symptom of pancreatitis.

Always read the Patient Information Leaflet supplied with your medication.

Pregnancy and contraception

Foundayo should not be used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

If you are planning a pregnancy, speak to your healthcare professional. Foundayo should normally be stopped at least 3 weeks before trying to become pregnant.

Foundayo may also reduce the effectiveness of oral hormonal contraception. Women using the contraceptive pill may be advised to use an additional barrier method, such as condoms, or switch to a non-oral method for 30 days after starting treatment and for 30 days following each dose increase.

Is Foundayo right for me?

There is no single weight loss medication that is best for everybody.

Foundayo may be particularly appealing if you:
